Summer begins
Exams were finally behind us. With nothing but freedom stretching ahead and summer officially here, my friends and I faced the perfect question: where should we go? We could have chosen anywhere, but somewhere deep down, I knew I wanted to go to Cornwall.
It all started with a film. Exactly a year ago, I watched About Time, and there was something about the way Tim's family lived in that coastal English town that completely captivated me. The golden light, the dramatic cliffs, the charming seaside cottages... That awe stayed with me. I never forgot it. So when exam season finally ended, I turned to my friends and said, "Let's go to Cornwall."
The plan came together quickly. We were travelling south towards the coast on the National Express Coach two days after our most recent exam. I could sense the excitement growing as the countryside rolled past the windows. The location that had been in my head for so long was finally going to be visible. I had no idea that this trip with these friends would end up becoming one of my favourite memories, which in turn became a compilation of idyllic summertime moments that were captured in photographs and stories.
This is how it all unfolded.
Day 1
We had no plan and no regrets when we got to Cornwall. To be honest, our only goals were to offload our heavy backpacks in our accommodation, have a breakfast as all of us were starving, and learn the rest as we went. You know, it was that sort of trip. The kind where you just want to be there with your friends and create memories that you'll laugh about for years to come, and you don't really care about doing everything "right."
Half past seven in the morning. We arrived to Comborne, where we hopped on the regular route bus and arrived to our fist spot: Godrevy Lighthouse. It was a short walk from Gwithian across the fields to Godrevy Beach. As we reached the cliffs and the shore, the view was nothing like I've ever seen before.
